UK and German Keyboard Interface show differences with MSKLC 1.4.

Question:
Hi,

I am installing a new keyboard layout in Gujarati for a friend. This Keyboard Layout is/will be generated with MS Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4, and will be installed as a normal keyboard interface like English or Dutch, visible in the system tray.

Text Processors like MS Works Wordpad interrupts not a simple key constallation like "a, b" or SHIFT "a, b".

But ALTGR "a, b" or SHIFT+CTRL "a, b" with this special keys (ALTGR or SHIFT+CTRL) are not working correctly.

Of course, are these special keys reserved for "Shortcuts"? Now, to stop them working - How can I do it?

I dont need these shortcuts, and the interruption by these shortcuts, either on "Wordpad" (or other Texteditors) Level, or general on "VISTA" Level, is terrible!

How do I disable these shortcuts? HOW can I make the Keyboard interface work?

It would be realy great, if someone could give a hint... :)

Thank you,
Jens

Answer 1:Hello Jens,

Thank you for posting.  At this time there is no known way to disable Windows keyboard shortcuts.  One possible solution for you is to upgrade to Vista Ultimate and use Windows updates to download Language Packs.

Please let me know if this helps you.

Answer 2:Hi Zack,

thank you for your answer,

no I dont think so, that it is a good idea to upgrade. I dont use crtl keys anymore, because of the shortcuts.

The problem is in the moment, that MSKLC 1.4 works fine on the "standart" level and "shift" level, but not with "altgr"+ keys.

These altgr+keys are not shortcuts, so far I see, and still in MS Works Word the first two levels are displaying the gujarati letters, but when I press altgr+s (where a Gujarati Letter should appear), it appears just a simple "s".

Strangly, in the Test Editor in MSKLC 1.4, a key like altgr+s appears as the letter, which we have defined!

How can this happend?

Any idea?

Jens

Answer 3:Hi

On the Toshiba Laptop Satellite L300, inclusive Vista 32 and bought in UK!,

the MS MSKLC 1.4. Keyboard Layout Creater was installed to create Gujarati (Indic) Keyboard.
The MSKLC was downloaded from the officall MS pages (US?).

I implemented the Gujarati Letters on three shift-states of the keyboard layout.

standard
shift
altgr (alt+ctrl)

The first two states work well on the UK-Toshiba laptop

The 3rd state (alt+ctrl) does not display Gujarati Letters, - it displays Latin letters instead.

An external keyboard behaved in the same way, as described above.

On a German Toshiba A50 laptop with XP,

all three states display Gujarati letters.

An esternal keyboard also displays Gujarati letters in all three states, here.

On the UK-Toshiba, the inbuild MSKLC editor displays Gujarati letters in all three states.

On others editors, the first two states work, the third (alt-ctrl) does not work.

Please, what do I do, to enable all 3 states to work on the UK Toshiba and an all editors?

Thank you,
Jens
